My tomatoes I planted in the holey old tank we cut up are doing well now that the weather has warmed up. They have started flowering and even some small fruit. There are 3 plants per round and also have lettuce planted around the base which we have been picking leaves off every day for a couple of months now. They will only last a few more weeks but I have others nearly ready to start picking growing next to the peas and beans in the trough beds.

Remember these little Scotia tommys, the seeds from Tessa were planted a week earlier.

Now look at them nearly four week since I planted the seeds.

Might put them in a garden bed tomorrow or do you reckon I should pot them up.

As the bed I want to put them is at the side of the house in the open

And gets the frost as its on the South East..

This morning's trip to pick up my tomato seeds off Mantis was worth while, at least 2 dozen varieties I haven't tried, plus several very healthy seedlings of two I just love, namely Grub's Mystery Green and Tom's Yellow Wonder. There are other seedlings as well but varieties not known to me.

I was lucky not to go to sleep at the wheel. I went to bed late last night then darn Toby started yipping to me at maybe 5am. Guess who's tired and having a nap? Yeah, the dog, not me! Dear boy though, ...

The banana plant was kissing the ground yesterday it was completely rotten.

So much water down near the back fence these days.

Very strange considering the plants are in a raised 60cm bed.

The bunch are still green though not as green as they were months ago

I wonder if it will ripen there are 26 little Lady Finger bananas on it

Oranges and mandarins are starting to ripen... sorry not very good pics but it started raining so was trying to hurry.

Passionfruit are ripening up though only one ready every few days.

Still waiting for the pumpkins to ripen... about half a dozen on like this... all at least 4 or 5kgs each

Picking a few tomatoes every few days

Hopefully not some other kind of fungus...

OK, the seedlings are in.

Prior to planting I used organic type soil preparation and I am fairly happy with the soil condition...albeit it has taken 4 years and there is still much to do over next few years.

I want to try to be organic; perhaps ease my way into that but see how I go.

Usually I would spray quite early for moths and grubs in cabbages and tomatoes etc.

I have begun reading some book/articles on organic growing and accessed some sites on computer. But what ...

I cant tell when they're mature enough to pick though, they're quite big but ive never grown them before so not really sure what the proper size is and no chance of them turning red now. How do you know when the green ones are mature enough to pick?

Mandarines

Oranges

No fruit on the bananas yet though... shouldn't be too much longer... I hope

Plenty of passionfruit

And something a little different... Monstera deliciosa fruit... be a while yet though, they take about 12 mths.

Plenty of blossoms on this little tree, I dug it up a few weeks back and Tony dragged and planted it in the chook yard for me I am surprised that it survived being a hot day and all and I had to chop all the roots off to about 60cms around the trunk as it was too big to move..

Who knows it could be its last little burst into blossom before it carks it..

I love blossoms...
