 Bromeliads similar to Marlenes

PostSubject: Bromeliads similar to Marlenes   Wed Mar 25, 2009 7:16 am

THese are similar to Marlene's brom that she put on the other day - Neoregelia concentrica and also Neo spectabilis. One has pink/red tips and the other has purple tips with various amounts of mottling. I think the mottling depends on the amount of sun they get.

Yes Gail you are correct. Mine gets all morning sun so I think it brings out the mauve colour

They're all pupping nicely Cheryl flower

Richard, these broms are grown for their leaf colour so don't get a tall flower but develop little flowers in the centre. That bit in the middle is where the flowers come from but on the ones above the flowering is finished. Here are some flowers from a similar one

They're looking real good GH. Do you know the name of them? I love the way the red flowers poke through the fern and other foliage.
