banana So georgeous Marlene BLUES are my favourite colour in the garden.
Im into gingers now ,have just planted about 16 different ones .
That blue is on my long wish list.
I wonder how many members keep a wish list for plants.
MA has that blue one and has posted some lovely pics of the flowers.

Its a beautiful plant Marlene I also love blue flowers and as Gwen wrote I also grow it.

Did you know that plant is not a real Ginger its name is Dichorisandra thyrsiflora that's the worst about Common names isn't it, no wonder people get confused, I bought my plant at Beenleigh Sunday market by that name also but when it flowered it did not look like a ginger even the leaves did not look right so I searched and found its botanical name.

They are a beautiful colour and well worthy of any tropical style garden.

Yes... Mary-Anne...I did know it wasn't a ginger but everyone refers to it as such.
Lots of it around here on the Sunshine Coast as it grows well here.

I was given a piece to strike some time back and I placed it in a water pot that is home to my water Iris. It was supposed to be a temporary stay... woops ......some 18 months or so later...the roots have embedded in the bottom of the pot and the plant is still alive. Shocked

darn...my reply disappeared.
It hasn't flowered as yet...I suspect the original piece is under the water and the visible bit is new skinny growth.
I also put a piece of an orchid (Thunia marshalliana) in the pot...approx 6 weeks ago...it is still alive.
I like to push the boundaries of gardening...experiment etc.
