Only gets like that when it pours down, a bit of rubble in the pipe, not a hassle, only used for what is on the concrete are out the front, I actually got the broom and swept all the water down the entire side of the house, cleans the concrete well Suspect

Good to see some water lying around cheers Miss Bella doesn't seem to mind too much. My 3 goldens couldn't care less about water, they'd be rolling in it but Sara, the big brave German Shepherd hates to get her paws wet geek

Don't have them anymore Richard, Two of my Daughters and I were into them in a big way once showing as well. I only bred one litter it was a disaster we were trying to bring new blood into our lines , so my eldest daughter chose a South African Import for the Stud that kept throwing non/ridged and heart problem dogs, I kept one with the heart problems she was a beautiful dog I had her for 9 1/2 years we bought another one when she was a year old for companionship and when she passed away at around 13 years I did not want any more, too heartbreaking.. Crying or Very sad

Dear little Bella looks quite put out with the water! She is very pretty.

I have a retriever who is scared of water - not mud but a body of water even if only a few cm deep and also rain - she will not go out. Just a wimp. Runs up and down as I swim but will not come near me in case I try to "persuade" her to come in.

She will get used to it Pamela. None of my retrievers liked the water much when they were little but once they were big enough... we can't keep them out now Smile By next summer you won't keep her out.

Tessa gave me the avatar - isn't it lovely.

Just in after planting some of the cuttings that had roots with the "mad" Sam running a million miles an hour and digging near me "to help" and ending up unearthing everything I put in ... you have to laugh as she is so cute ... but ... she loves the afternoon couple of hours "walk" in the front 2 acres in which we find all her "lost" treasures and throw some of them and I potter about the garden .. she gets so excited that she winds herself up and up and then goes faster and faster ... and then we come inside and she collapses. The puppy teeth are all through and she has learnt to sit, to be toilet trained (she stands at the door and 'tells' me), to not jump up on people and nip at their clothes, and her name. I think she is doing well and am now teaching her to "shake" paws/ hands and "down" and for small food rewards she learns real fast. She LOVES food and eats everything including fruit off the trees. And wombat poo this afternoon. Yuk!!! I aodre her and she seems to like me.

It is interesting but it is not hard to have a dog like you. And yes, Sam seems to adore me as I am devoted to her.

Horses are not like this. Even a poor dog owner who paid no attention to the dog would be adored. I find you cannot get a horse to like you simply because you like it and you feed it and are generally kind. A horse has to think that you are a worthy leader and trustworthy and you have to earn that respect. I am still learning. Sometimes I think I have Elle's respect, and then she will walk in front of me and they do not do these things lightly - it is all for a reason of dominance. But mostly, as I have got bossier, Elle responds to me. Lachie and Kev are the same. It is a mixture of unemotional and calm bossiness that they seem to seek. I think they have a meter inside them that lets them measure your heart rate and so you cannot lie about how you feel to them.

The time I get the best response from Elle is when I go up to put the chooks to bed and this is well after horse feed time but they are usually still hanging around. Sometimes I lean over the gate and I have no "agenda" (like I am going to catch you/ lunge you/ lead you somewhere) and simply like to yack about the lovely sunset and this is when Elle knows how I feel and comes over and can be quite affectionate. I had a bad fall on Tuesday (Sam had chewed my sandal strap and I fell) and went I went up on Tuesday night I was in a lot of pain. She knew, I swear, that I was suffering and came over and licked the sore arm. That she picked the right arm was a 50% lucky shot but she clearly knew I was suffering. It is OK now.

But I am still unsure if any of my horses like me. I still watch carefully as I am sure Lachie would kick me. I had a bad kick in my left knee from Kev the day I bought her 5 years ago and now have arthritis in that knee and will have to have it replaced. So I do not trust any of them that much. They are sooooo different to dogs but I would not be without a horse.
