| Thanks folks...still lots of work to do to make me satisfied. this is about the 4th re-start so we are gradually getting there. I told Kerrie when we moved into the new house that this is my last re-start at this place. I reckon it will be a five year project and we passed one year this summer.
Hippies were mainly along northern side of driveway but when house was being built the trucks ran over them and destroyed them. I rescued what I could and have been nurturing them. We have had several truck driving incompetence incidents!

| What a lovely place you have Daniel! And plenty of room in the gardens among the beautiful trees. What a great project, building new gardens there.(Or perhaps you would prefer to keep it as it is) Anyway, it's very nice. | |

| I am not sure if I have mentioned this but a guy knocked on our door recently to advise he lives down the road and is seeking rezoning for subdivision...dividing all our blocks into 15 plus blocks each. My neighbour gave me a copy of the letter the bloke gave them.
If he is successful our place will be rezoned urban residential...I could not afford the rates and will have to sell.
I have written to my local member - heard NOTHING. I am not giving up yet - but we are very upset - it is difficult to keep one's head up...how many times do we have to be smashed! I am not beaten yet!

| Gee that's terrible Daniel I would be more than a little upset too.. I am shocked actually. What do the other neighbours think are they for it, too much greed in this world I am so sorry this has happened to you both.. I am glad you are not giving up. I could not imagine paying rates that high its unbelievable..
There was a *One house to a block here* when we looked into everything before we bought the land as a lot of the area is classed as flood plains with Logan River at the front of us and Tygum Lagoon a little down to the side of us, Council told us they would not be able to get people out quickly if it flooded and we thought we were safe too, now they are letting people pull down older houses and build more than one on a block we are very worried that next door on the right coming into our gate will we sold soon and there has been talk of blocks of flats only talk yet but very scary also, if that happens we will be off too for more reasons than one..

| How do they work out how much to charge for rates in Qld?
I hope you don't get rated out of your home, Dan, you have created something rather wonderful there.

| Daniel, could you go around to the neighbours yourself and see if anyone else opposes him... get a petition going Councils generally won't approve this sort of thing if there are too many objections... unless some money changes hands or he knows someone on council. | |

| Cheryl...you can be my daughter if you wish...I continually adopt them....but I warn you...I am a VERY over-protective, over possessive dad! Better than being "Damm Dan". I have spoken to a few neighbours...some have signed...only found one so far who will not. One guy said he signed thinking he was just saying it is OK for that one guy to be re-zoned. Not sure what to believe there. Had no reason to disbelieve previously and I like to take people at their word...until they prove otherwise. I have written to local member - no response - they are just as greedy...for votes if nothing else. Under our former Premier's 20 year plan there was to be NO SUB-DIVISION for 20 years. This one is no better...and I imagine local council will rub their collective hands together. Rates are levied on a percentage of unimproved capital value. As I understand it, and I am no lawyer,...if made urban residential the value of my 2 1/2 acres will rise, at least on paper...and i will be stuck with it. Trouble is...value to me will deteriorate if surrounded by townhouses. Snooker - it seems. I am writing to State government expressing my concerns. Bubba, we live at Bellbowrie | |
