PostSubject: Meet *Sleepy*   Fri Apr 10, 2009 10:32 pm

I first came across sleepy one night a couple of weeks back.
I think it was the night I took the pics of the Night Flowering Epiphyllum hookeri
There it was asleep in the bird bath and I woke poor sleepy up..

I think I did the same thing this morning..
There it was sound asleep on this old garden ornament.

And I started clicking away with my camera poor sleepy..

I reckon it started to give me the evil cyclops

I was fascinated by the gold in its eye look its taking a sneaky peek at me
I have never looked into a frogs eye before humm very interesting..
I dont know what it is I have searched for ages dont think it is a green tree frog
Wrong coloured eyes they look like toad eyes Question
Propped on a stool got comfy and talked to it for ages would you believe over one hour.
I won all the arguments though it seems not bothered by me at all
Leaving it there I walked around the garden and all I seen was this D/D Fly

Could be this one: Female Australian Emerald Dragonfly Hemicordulia australiae
Not sure though

Found sleepy in the bottom of that Jug later on in the morning.
Yep you guessed it, it was asleep in a little bit of water in the bottom I love you

Bl, I don't know if this is any consolation but we had frogs for yonks before I even realised. I did not recognise the sounds....one of them has a sound similar to a cricket. When Ross pointed out that it was a frog:duh: duh duh the penny dropped. We now have three types...Litoria fallax, Limnodynastes peroni and Litoria peroni. I very rarely see them...rather we hear them of a night.

Oh that's shame we have lots here, perhaps you have them but dont know
I go every morning for hours looking at things in the garden and see them
Hubby goes out in the night looking for toads and sees different spotted ones
They dont come up good in the night against the Sugar Cane Mulch.

This tiny one hubby has is Litoria latopalmata

Its often in the rain gauge tube of a morning

Litoria caerulea again in the letterbox.

And the top of the tank

And the most we have would be the Litoria fallax same size as brown one up top.
These cuties are everywhere I have to be very careful when pruning
They live mostly in the roses and hibiscus and cucumbers vines.. Smile

Have a look one morning you will probably be pleasantly surprised

Years ago we had a little one that lived on our verandah but he's been gone a long time now. I know what they sound like but we don't even hear them anymore. I don't use poisons and I've got lots of nice froggy habitat but they just don't come.

We had lots when I was a kid.
