| Gwen, I'm ashamed to say I didn't notice it I was looking at the tree trying to work it out. It looks a lovely contrast there. The cuttings are still looking good... no wilting so hopefully will strike ok. I saw some beautiful big Graptophyllums of both colours yesterday at my favourite nursery. They have large gardens planted with many of the plants they sell... all tropicals including rarer ones We were good though and only bought two anthuriums | |

| It's very pretty. Is it a native and is the fruit edible? | |

| Buba yes its a native rainforest tree was here when we moved to the block. It has salmon pink drupe shaped fruit, only small , very bitter. The birds eat them. | |

| Check out Archirhodomyrtus. Most of the google images have pink flowers but Wrigley and Fagg say it can be white.
You could send a photo to Fairhill Native Plant Nursery at Yandina. They're very good and very friendly.

| I'm not certain that IS it but the flowers are remarkably similar. It'd be good to know what Fairhill thinks. | |

| Bubba Thank you so much for the trouble you have gone to. I have compared the 2 flowers side by side, they are similar and the closest I've come to , There is one big problem the fruits are completly different in colour and shape and size, you are at a disadvantage not having the fruit of my tree to compare . An EMAIL has been sent to Fairhill so I 'll await a reply.
Another thing this is a rainforest tree that will grow very high, only reason its the size it is, its growing beside the driveway and as it gets taller it spreads out over the driveway and is a hazard . I have cut it back to 6ft several times.

Gwen, I was looking for the original post you put on but can't find it now. Do you remember where it was?

| Check out Pilidiostigma. I don't think that is it but I haven't had a chance to look into the different ones. The flowers are similar but leaves are different on one I saw. | |

| A third one... it isn't a guava is it? Look up Psidium.
None of these seem to fit all the characteristics but may help lead towards others.

| Thanks Gail for the research effort you have put in .I have looked at all those sites plus others . No results yet . When I look at the tree with the blossoms clustered in the center of a rosette of leaves I think Rhododendron from down south.I am still waiting on a E Mail from the nursery. | |

If you want to explore the Rhodo link try this lot for starters. http://fossilflowers.com/taxpage/0/80/159/family/Ericaceae.html
