| Here are pics of the mum and dad sunbird . This is mum This is the dad The colour under the beak is deepest dark blue, The pale blue feathers at the side, show that it is in the mood for love. this is the only time it shows these mating feathers. | |

| Just read up on them and their call sounds as interesting as they look. Are they common there, Gwen? You are so lucky, the only bird here that is as bright is a Golden Whistler or an Eastern Shrike-Tit, and I have only seen them here once. | |

| Yes they are common here .I had them in INNISFAIL and I know they are in Cairns and all the way up to the top of Cape York including the islands. Our sunbird is the only one in Australia Its called Nectarinia jugularis ,it has a cousin in NewYork and thats all there are in that GENUS. | |
