 Twins progress

Here are some pics of the twins as babies .
An amazing thing I've never noticed on baby sunbirds before
One of the very young babies is showing blue shoulder feathers.
Blue shoulder feathers are only put on by the adult male as a mating display and here it is on a baby .I can only conclude its a male bird and these mating feathers will be well covered over as the plumage develops.

Maybe I have'nt noticed those blue feathers before because I've not had pics this early or so close up before.That could explain it .

Cheryl they build that nest in 5 days, male and female working non stop together.
The bits right at the tail end is the rudder, it stops the nest from swaying too much in the wind.
Very pratical little birds.

So glad you all enjoy the yellow sunbirds as much as we do.They are chirping away in their nest now calling for mum and dad to bring them the food . MUM AND DAD SHARE EVERY PART OF CHICK RAISING
