| Only one word for these little Lady Finger Bananas *Delicious * If you seen these in a shop you probably would not buy them as they have brown marks on the skin. In this case dont judge a book by its cover, they are so sweet and firm just heavenly Good things come in small packages you see.. I wish I grew these all year round they are A You may have to eat three to make up for a small size one from the Stupidmarkets but who cares. Bananas are the best source of natural energy for the human body! | |

| They are definitely the best ones I'm hoping we will get a flower on ours soon now that we've had some rain... they are starting to grow well at long last. I miss the taste of those sweet little ones. I used to shake my head at a friend of mine who wouldn't eat a banana if it had a spot on the skin... she used to throw them away... what a waste. When I learnt what she did I stopped giving her bananas. | |

| Oh Yes they are and so sweet after eating one of those the shop bought one tasted like a pile of wet flour and soft as well Just because they have brown marks on the skin does not mean there is something wrong with them and I don't blame you for not giving them away to someone who does that. Gail looking at the date I first put this bunch on the other GD in late November it took less than six months for this bunch to ripen.. Still one more bunch to go. | |

| Thanks Richard I just ate a couple before breakfast. They are a temptation sitting there on the bench while waiting for the toast to pop up.. | |

| Cheryl I used to buy them from the fruit shop down the road for $1.50 to $3.00 kg, new owners now they want $6.99 kg that's even dearer than Coles at $4.99 kg at present, I buy a few every week from Aldi at $3.99 kg when they have them.. Tessa I have often thought the same thing as they are very short and stubby | |

How much are they down here, Cheryl? I've never priced them, I just buy ordinary bananas which I only like when they are firm, but then I can't eat many anyhow as the potassium in them is supposed to interfere somehow with thyroid med's. I will buy some on Friday though, lady's fingers, just for a taste test. | |

| Doesn't mean the ones you buy are going to taste like the home grown ones Betty Our were ripened on the plant it makes a bit difference to the taste.. I have seen LF Bananas in the shops up here the same size as medium Cavendish bananas They also had thick skins, LF Bananas have thin skins.. | |

| Mary-Anne, I did buy them last shopping day, they did have thick skin, not thin, and they tasted no different to ordinary bananas. However, my brother lived in Queensland for quite some time and did say the fruit up there is better. I was just hoping for some slight difference in the l f. | |

| It would not surprise me Betty if the smaller Cavendish were being sold as Lady Finger Banana. Daniel the first bunch appeared around the last day of November so they took around five months to mature and ripen. The second bunch came later Mid January that's this one below you can see them colouring up good. Photo's taken on Tuesday.. As you can see they are going well Daniel. I dont quite know what you mean by How long do they stay 'in season'? They grow all year round if that is any help, when we have frosts sometimes the leaves go brown may have even lost a plant two years back then we had those three bad frost in one year, if worried just throw something over the top of them if frost is forecasted, they also need regular watering.. | |
