| Hope your frangi beats the cold. I still have a couple of flowers on mine but not that many leaves. The golden penda should be a sight to see. Mine is starting to bud up to for the first time ever... after about 5 years! Can't wait | |

| Gail I go out and look at it every morning hoping that Frangi will open but no and to make it worse its on the South East side of the block where the plants cop the frost its right next to the Melastoma affine and it got burnt real bad two years back.. Thats great that your Golden penda is going to flower too, its a long time coming for some plants. Cheryl where is the pic I would love to see your Frangi.. | |

| Nice pics Mary-Anne! I need to get a new camera one of these days. I can't get real close and I can't get the resolution that these new digital cameras now have.
I planted a 15-inch Golden Penda about four years ago. It hasn't grown an inch. Some of the leaves have yellowed but otherwise the plant looks like it is in suspended animation. It's not dead but there is absolutely no growth. I'm pulling it out next week because I need that spot for something new that I'm excited about. The penda was a big disappointment.

| Thanks Ron..I have a DSLR and lenses. Yes its a bit of a disappointment for us too, shame all the same as it has a great cluster of flowers and I thought my tree was slow only one metre in 4 years.. I dont blame you for turfing it out, if our two Brachychiton acerifolius Illawarra Flame Trees dont get a move on this year we are doing the same thing seven years we have had them this July and all that happens to them is these masses of Caterpillars come and curl up the leaf and eat every one they are certainly a waste of space | |

| Ron , what wonderful patience you have to keep the Penda that long with no growth, 12 months is my limit.but I do give the plants a warning and a time limit to mend their ways , result and out it comes. | |

| That just reminded me I planted golden Penda some years ago , it was only about 2 ft tall and my daughter came to mow the lawns with her ride on mower YES , right over it says she did'nt see it . I never replaced it , may one day. | |

| I had a golden penda when I lived in Caboolture and it was very quick, got to a couple of metres high and wide in a couple of years and flowered the first year. The one I have here has easily reached 2m high but isn't as dark green as the other one and is only budding up for the first time. As they are a rainforest tree, we couldn't expect them to grow much during the drought years, they do need regular water, and I doubt if grown in full sun they would ever get past 5 or 6m tall. | |
