| Things are now starting to look good after all that rain we had Heaps of water still laying around another 12mm in the gauge this morning We have had a few showers today but the sun shining in between. Out the Back: Right at the back the Veggie beds water still seeping out of them. In front of the garage/shed: Up one of the driveways: Plenty of water at the edge of the rose bed the bulbs were planted there too: Lots of water around for this Noisy Miner to have a drink: This would be the driest spot on the block lots of trees to suck up the moisture: And this would be the wettest as all next doors water runs into here Where there is a row of Lily Pilly and Hibiscus along the fence: The other side of the block: I am glad I got those pics when I did as its gone dark and is raining again... | |

| It all looks beautiful in the sunshine, Mary-Anne. In your second last photo, what is the white flowering plant? And that Noisy Miner photo, it makes me feel at home. We have a lot here. Golly, your gum trees are so healthy and lush compared to ours. Are all the suburbs leafy like that? Must make them a fire risk, same as the area I drive through close in to Horsham. Everyone wants their shady few acres but I just see the potential for a serious fire. I do realise you can't live without some shade though. | |

| Mary-Anne I didn't know you had such a beautiful BIG garden. That must take some looking after.
The weather was the same here at Buderim today. One minute sunshine... next minute light showers.
However hanging onto the side of a hill has it's advantages. We don't get water sitting around.

| Thanks Betty that white plant is my small White Cascade Bougainvillea.. Yes there are heaps of trees around our area the Logan River is across the road at the front of the house.. The Gum trees here do not explode like they do in Victoria I have never seen a fire here yet, I have smelt smoke the fires that are lit here are more grass type fires .. Tony cut down and removed 8 thick, thin, tall gum trees to site the house before we built it and since then we have had another 15 chopped/cut down some professionally others Tony has done it costs a lot of money to get tall trees removed so these others are here to stay.. I say to my self we are insured, we have four doors across the back of the house and one at the front, the rooms with fixed security screens have doors leading to the outside the ones with only fly screens dont as you can get out a window I designed the house myself and Tony and I hand built it 9 years ago with safety and old age in mind right down to the back ramp and the extra wide doors.. Life is a gamble anyway.. I would rather live here than on a main road where a car can land up through your bedroom wall.. | |

| Gwen that is only a extension to the shed Tony added that a couple of years ago as we needed a wood shed to keep the firewood dry its 30 x 30 ft and yes that his Inventors bench there in front of those two windows. I do sit on that red seat a lot Gwen its close to the front of the big shed and I talk to Tony when he is building things I also sit there and take lots of pics of the birds having a bath or a drink in front of Pedro the donkey.. | |

| Ota is a easy block to keep neat there us only us two. Mowing Tony starts at the back I start at the front and we meet half way in the middle of the back yard we do it all in about 45 minutes, spraying the weeds on that long driveway and pruning the bougs, hibiscus and roses takes a lot of time I do all that and raking up leaves on the grass Tony blows the ones on the driveway back under the trees he also picks up the branches every day or two, and if I am too weary to do things now he does them, I wont let him near the bamboo again or a few other things as he is too heavy handed. | |

| I agree Gail, also 20 -30mm a week over the year would do me fine Instead of 200-300mm in three days every month.. Its only a 3/4 acre block Marlene and we never had water pooling before either. Till the Council put concrete paths in I reckon they sloped them towards the house instead of the gutter.. | |

It's really not that fantastic. I have only been concentrating more on the garden in the last two years when I sold (or given away) most of my orchids. It's not a very walking friendly garden being on the side of a hill. You couldn't use your buggy here Gwen

| That White Cascade Bougainvillea puts on quite a show, Mary-Anne . I love it. I was forgetting that Victoria is one of the most bushfire prone areas in the world, and Queensland is not, sorry. I must have a death wish living down here, especially next to a forest. You did a great job with the house. My sister and b-i-law also built theirs with old age in mind. | |

| Thanks Yes it does Betty and this is the time they usually do it. But because of all the rain we have had this year the bougs are not flowering as good as usual. And Yes you do have to plan for later in life.. | |
