This 'tree' is in a pot next to the mailbox. It's been cut back repeatedly so that the trunk is a huge, round caudex about the size of a basketball-and-a-half (maybe 18 inches diameter). It only has two buds this year. I was out earlier today and the larger bud was still closed. Just at sunset I went out and this is what I found--

Wonderful Bombax . I;ve only seen it as a large tree . I have Bombax ceiba growing in our forest .trees 50 ft + tall .I find the lovely red silk cotton flowers under the tree .
