| Awww Thanks Cheryl I know that but I was starting to feel no one liked these beautiful flowers..
That red one is so big, easy a ruler across that a 30cm ruler and the flowers last for months they put a lift into a dull day, not that we have many up here in the winter mind you..

| . True, but that's from the Northern Hemisphere where its cold at Christmas Well being Summer here in OZ I would rather some white flowers like roses for instant to give that table a cool look | |

| Gwen are your little cuttings going darker like towards the red colour at all, they usually grow very quick. Down here they do maybe its not cold enough yet for them that is, not you. I will be looking forward to next week then when Faye is not so busy.. Yes it is.. | |

| Oh WOW!! I've just been too busy to look, and the tropical threads come last(no offence) because I know they'll be beautiful and I can't grow them. I thought the pink was lovely but that red is a knock-out! Okay, so I'm suitably depressed that I can't grow them, happy are we?? (Joking.) Good luck to you. Are they hard or easy to grow up there? | |

| Thanks Marlene yes its a winner. Betty there is nothing stopping you from growing any plant providing you are happy to share your lovely warm house with them I am so jealous of your Roses, Autumn Leaves, Maples sigh, clematis tulips lilac, prunus, malus hyacinths, magnolia, cant even grow daisies here they hate our wet season now I am getting depressed. I used to have a tall pink weeping cherry, and a stellata rosa magnolia and very tall rhododendrons in the front garden there was a Daphne near the front door and a Laburnum vossi near the side fence, and hanging baskets of fuchsia, tree ferns in the corners , a Claret Ash, Golden Ash, Maple and a Golden Elm down the back, mauve clematis with a burgandy stripes and a yellow banksia rose on the pergola, wisteria on the brick garage wall and a Scarlet O Hara boug on the house wall and some roses out the front too, there was more but now I am getting even more depressed. And yes its easy to grow those big red double poinsettia I just break off a branch and stick it in the ground and its grows... | |

| I love them, Mary-Anne. I love the brilliant splash of the red.. very vivid... a no nonsense colour. Sorry I missed this thread.. .... lately I have been head down, bum up trying to get all my gardening up to scratch before the next batch of poison. I have a spindly P. in a pot, I may release it and hope it grows beautifully, the poor pet. | |

| Mary-Anne, don't think my area is like Melbourne. Chalk and cheese. We are verging on semi arid up here north of the Divide. Of those things you've mentioned I can grow roses(hopefully) and lilacs, although mine are just white, have been here since we shifted here, and they just struggle on. I miss Melbourne too. Don't think I can share my house with a poinsettia, no way! | |

| Not to worry Fay.. I can understand you wanting to get the gardening done before the next lot of ... Fay if you prune your poinsettia about three or four times in the spring/summer it will thicken up real good.
Betty I had no idea where you live was so arid so sorry about that.. Oh well roses and lilac are gorgeous anyway do you have a wisteria they like it on the dry side yes I actually got three vines here two lilac and one white, after many years one of the lilac ones flowered last year..
