Found this Saunders Case Moth caterpillar climbing up a palm tree on the weekend. Don't usually see them out of their case.

When we got a bit too close it quickly hid back in its case.

We didn't know what this was as first until it spun a web and realised it was a spider. Did a search and found it was a Whip or Stick spider. They are very thin, only about 1mm wide but about 2 or 3cm long.

Spider certainly is a weird one, very lively too. I had to take quite a few photos before I got one that wasn't blurred from it moving.

We get a few different case moths caterpillars around but have only ever seen a couple outside of the case. Had another one a week or so ago that had the dogs wondering what it was. They were all sniffing it and would jump back if it moved... funny to watch.

There is a new one hanging from one of my rambling roses it has this light green thing on it I must investigate further it must be that time of the year for them Very Happy

I have found they are very hard to get off things there is one sticking under the base of one of the bird baths its been there for about three years I cannot pull it off its gone soft I may get a paint scraper today and see if I can get it off that way..
