Why is it when you plant six seeds and want six to come up Only three do like these lettuce seeds..
Yet when you want only a couple of plants like Thyme to bring the bees And you think you have only sprinkled a couple of flecks of dust in the pot You end up with about about fifty of the jolly plants..

Or two pots of same size, with equal number of seeds, are treated the same yet give varying results?

It's typical round here too. With my latest lettuce seedlings I put 2 seeds in each tube and all came up... only needed one in each.

Yes the same thing happened with the Lettuce last time Gail and then the opposite this time..
