| I'm ready to send every sheep here to market after some decided to get out on the road this morning. First time ever and it has to be when we had the District nurse due, Aaron supposedly coming for sheep,(he postponed it) and Matt coming for his ram. Thank God we live on an old stock route that drovers used to use, there is quite a distance from fences to roadside, so none got skittled by the big trucks going by. I was darn lucky too in that our friend, Stephen, paid us a visit right at a perfect time and was able and willing to help. Much chasing them to and fro but finally all were in, then the next drama was getting the ram loaded. Well.... he is big and fast and no way was he letting Matt calmly hunt him over to the ramp into his stock crate, instead he took off like he was jet propelled and leapt headfirst into one of those heavy pipe frame farm gates . I think he bent it, but how he didn't break his neck or fracture his skull I'll never know. Matt had to corner him, toss him, put a rope around his neck then sort of steer him to the stock crate. Episode two will be early tomorrow when I have to yard them again for Aaron. After today's effort I can hardly walk with the pain from my heel spur and crook tendons, but I was able to get a Dr's appointment for tomorrow, thank heaven, a cortisone shot in my heel will give me some relief. Oh, the escapee ewe that I thought was Baa-Bie, our quietest ewe, was in fact the mother of the twin ewe lambs, the youngest lambs, so I suspect the lambs got out and mum just had to find a way to be with them. The other brain dead wethers played follow the leader. So, no sheep in that paddock until we put cyclone around it. No rest for the wicked, I have to head off to the vet now. | |

| Oh Dear that poor Ram Betty we have one of those pipe gates and it took a big tray truck to bend ours so I hope it was not hurt too much.. There is no way I could go chasing sheep either that cyclone wire around the fence sounds good to me all the best there and with that heel too maybe you will get a chance to rest it tomorrow.. | |

| I feel so sorry for the ram, Mary-Anne. He's been here for 3 months, fed pellets with the ewes so was pretty quiet, but he reacted to Matt like my escapees did when they saw Stephen, although his take-off into the gate was spectacular compared to theirs. He'd be awfully sore tonight. What's this, a rest tomorrow? I wish! I have to do my fortnightly shopping after I sort out the sheep. Can't even take it easy on Saturday, have to be up early to visit the local market, to catch up to the guy who sells roses. That's very funny, Gwen. I think that Dr knows there is not much chance of me resting, I think he even reckons it's my fault for living out of town. | |

| No doubt you are right, Mary-Ann. Things went more quietly this morning but the sheep are a bit stirry because of the guys being here, they're probably wondering "what next?" Aaron reckons our biggest wether would have bought $170, the others $150 and he should know as he sold some over the hooks only yesterday. Ours are for the freezer though, not for sale. Had to laugh. Aaron said he left some 3 month old rams with the ewes to grow a bit and the precocious brats got the ewes in lamb, he got lots of sets of twins, and also triplets. Not many singles. He is not happy though as they lambed at the wrong time. At least I can use this as an example of why he should come over and mark my lambs early. Oh, on Sunday I will hopefully have roses to plant, so not much rest that day either. I'd want to get them in before rain on Moday. | |

| Three months old Rams Gee that's Mind boggling Goodness never a dull moment at your place is there.. All those roses the garden will look so pretty in the warmer weather. I have just come in from looking at my roses what a sorry mess they are, still all water logged except the three newer DA's though the buds on them are all balling though Brass Band actually has a decent bloom on it even after that shower of rain we just had.. | |

| The sheep certainly keep us busy, only two months and we should have baby lambs again. I'll keep all the ewes so we get the grass eaten down during Spring. They say if we have an El Nino we'll have a terrible bushfire season again this coming Summer. We'll market some once Summer comes. You are lucky to have any roses flowering because none of mine are, and if they were the cold and rain due next week would mess them up. Once the needle I had today kicks in I must take a walk out to the orchard to see how the roses are doing. Cripeys, the needle hurt this time! Instant relief though because he gave me a local anaesthetic as well, so at least I could finish my shopping without too much pain. | |

| That's not nice to look forward to Betty Bush fires are something to dread Betty our roses are supposed to flower better in the Winter as its cooler, they do not flower here good at all in the Summer I usually let them go into dormancy then sadly the last two years and the summer rain bought them into bloom again, they need that rest in the summer where yours gets the rest in the winter. Good to hear about the instant relief.. | |

| Still couldn't walk around the whole market this morning, my foot and leg are just too sore. So bought some roses, two salvias and a bird bath and came home. Also took some photo's of some of the garden ornaments for sale, which I'll post elsewhere. | |

| Oh Betty, you've had a rough few days! I hope your heel has become comfortable now and I hope you can rest it a bit soon. Sure is an eventful life with sheep apparently! | |

| My foot feels fine until I stand up, Val, which reminds me that I must hurry up and feed the sheep. The Dr did say the injection would kick in by tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it does. It was badly inflamed apparently. | |
