We went out for a relaxing few hours yesterday to Cedar Grove at Amamoor in Mary Valley which is in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
There was a short 1km bushwalk through rainforest following a section of Amamoor Creek which is a popular swimming area in summer, not so much in winter
Most of it is less than knee deep
At least we didn't have to get wet crossing it like some of the other bushwalks around here. I was expecting my daughter to go for a dip though as she decided to skip across the bridge... luckily she didn't fall off as the water was very cold
Everytime the kids see a big strangler fig they groan as they know to expect a photo next to one
Moreton Bay Strangler Fig
It was huge, the kids nearly disappeared between the buttress roots. Just as a guide, my monkey son is just over 6' tall
Looking up...
... and a bit higher
I made sure the kids didn't get too close to this tree though... the infamous GympieGympie Tree. The pain from touching the leaves can be so bad it has driven people to suicide
