| Brilliant photos, MA. Can't say I'd be fond of a spider that bites and jumps though! | |

| MA a very handsome jumping spider We get them here but I don't remember one so dark , its a beauty. I had a tree snake in the bedroom today , went down for my siesta only to find the 2 dogs had this lovely tree snake bailed up against the wall , at least they were not trying to catch it , Faye took the screen from the low window and gently guided it outside . it was last seen heading across the grass towards ther forest. | |

| Thanks Val .. No me either it may not even be that one as its a lot darker than the pics on the Brisbane Insect website. Another snake in the bedroom Gwen, oh well I guess its a way of life to you up here.. I dont mind snakes at all in the backyard, the bedroom is a different thing though Nicki over the road came over yesterday afternoon to get Tony to kill this huge snake so she said that was around the side of the house, seems the three dogs had bailed it up. No way said Tony its illegal to kill snakes so he put his boots on and went over to make sure nothing happened to the dogs I grabbed the camera and went over too when she said it was a grey colour like the concrete and very thick and big and curled up of course it was gone by time we got there... | |

| Thanks Gail you are right, Yes it is the Opisthoncus mordax I have never seen this one before, most likely jumped away as soon as I got near it probably just as well too..
Must say that an interesting site, the colours of the spiders are amazing I will try and keep my eyes open a big wider in future when I am out in the garden.. | |

| Plenty here too Gail, too many Yes that certainly looks like the same one. They are only tiny, the reason I spotted this one was becasue it was moving across the web from the Mango tree to the Banana and was right in my face Maybe it likes fruit | |

| The main reason I noticed this one was because of its size - it was about 1cm long and being black stood out clearly on the leaf. I did get a couple of other photos from the front but they ended up getting blurred as the spider tried to jump at the camera and I jumped back. | |

| I didn't notice that one Gwen... it is a pretty one. I never knew spiders did that sort of thing, looks weird like its abdomen is on a hinge | |
