So true . years ago I decided to try a few plants that normally do well in the sub tropics, some grew ok but have to be kept out of the tropical midday sun .If they did'nt grow easily I did'dt try again. We have so many wonderful plants to grow but I still remember the southern favourites like Roses. Daphne . Camelia,
Iceland poppies. violets, etc ,ets , but by belonging to a garden forum I get to enjoy other gardeners beautiful blooms. I usually get a daily FIX from the southern gardeners New Roses For The New Year 911556 New Roses For The New Year 911556 New Roses For The New Year 911556

Cheryl, apart from it being a really healthy looking bush, don't you love the lighter reverse on the petals of Burgundy Iceberg? I don't know whether you saw my post but mine did throw up a couple of roses that you'd swear were Blushing Pink Iceberg. Is the latter just a sport of Burgundy Iceberg?

Cheryl, the roses I put slotted pipe under do look good, a lot of the others are battling. And poor Golden Celebration, I had a bottle on a spike for it but the water didn't seep out. Consequently it got a dose of hot water gasp , plus that dreadful sun on the plant itself, and it's kinda burnt to a crisp - all the leaves. Barb thinks it will come good and so do I, there are still the odd healthy leaf there. I've put shade up for it and given it a good drink this morning. I'll have to wait to get Blushing Pink Iceberg, there are already too many others on my wish list for this year. LOL.
By the way, we will never plant another fruit tree up here without a couple of pipes under them, it's definitely the way to go.
