| Update on the sunflower seeds you sent to me Betty I planted them all in punnets there were not many in good condition about six all up Empress were powder same as some of the others they must have been shoved around in the post anyway there are four plants up two of the Giants and two of the Sunfola and getting big too so I will plant them into the garden next week.. While I was in Bunnings on Thursday I looked at the seeds again and found ones call Sunflower Princess put out by Johnsons seeds new to me not cheap either they grow to 180 cms tall and supposed to be wonderful for cut flowers they have dark centres but I don't think the yellow petals are as long as your Empress ones..

| They do look good Gwen, I hope they are like the ones Betty posted on her topic with the long yellow petals.. I had never heard of Johnsons either to I Googled they have different seeds than normal like Carrot Purple Haze for instance, don't know if I could eat a purple carrot it just does not seem right | |

| That's not good, Mary-Anne, but when mine finish I'll save lots of seeds and pack them better when I send you some more. I got mini sunflower seeds through the mail and have had no luck with them. I've had quite a few seeds from Johnsons, for quantity I think I prefer D.T. Browns though. | |

| And thats when the Guys cut the phone cable so no phone for 23 hours. Betty these are the two sunflower buds from the one growing in the pot. Forget about two buds there are six on that one stem I noticed this morning There is also a scraggly looking one growing in the same pot This is a Giant growing in the garden just past the back steps. More scraggly Giants ? in front of the chook yard fence ...............And this one is growing in front of those two above. I planted the four seedlings up top today also so roll on Summer | |
