| I started some jalapenos from seed but it was too late for the season really. I stuck them in the ground a while ago and even though things have cooled off they grew a few fruit. I cant tell when they're mature enough to pick though, they're quite big but ive never grown them before so not really sure what the proper size is and no chance of them turning red now. How do you know when the green ones are mature enough to pick? | |

| Cant the green be eaten too, it would probably be milder. Maybe best to taste one and see, sorry not much help really.. | |

| You cant pick them if they are green or reg , red one will be hotter that is all | |

| ok, sounds like you can pick any time. I thought they might be like capsicums where if you pick them too green they're kind of bitter. they're a nice looking chilli btw I just went out and picked a few, the others are still a bit small yet. here they are 5 1/2 cms long | |

| thee these ones are going into a chili con carne, mmmm. I had one raw and it tasted just like a green capsicum, until I got to the seeds, youch! thems thar chillis are plenty hot alright | |
