| The banana plant was kissing the ground yesterday it was completely rotten. So much water down near the back fence these days. Very strange considering the plants are in a raised 60cm bed. The bunch are still green though not as green as they were months ago I wonder if it will ripen there are 26 little Lady Finger bananas on it | |

| Wouldn't they ripen if you store them with some already ripe bananas. I thought bananas somehow helped other fruit ripen. I forget the details of why they do, | |

| I hope they ripen for you Mary-Anne - they look so yummy!
Is the additional water a result of the "works" on other side of fence?

| They still have a few corners on them but probably ripen... may not be quite as nice though. Some of the bigger ones look ok. | |

| Got no other bananas Betty, not paying $4 kg for ones that taste like a lump of wet flour either, but you are right, I tried that idea another year but it did not work as the bananas were much too green guess I will just leave them where they are and hope they ripen.. No Daniel all the water is sitting down the bottom end, half way back up where the bananas are growing all the water drains away freely into his block probably just too much rain.. Maybe Gail hope they do as they are a little bigger than the last bunch too.. | |

| I put six into a white paper bag as that is all I could find White bags don't work the ones outside are yellower I left the rest of the bunch on the table out on the back decking And they started ripening early this week I have already eaten two Tony has had one they are sweet in the middle but the outer edge is green Another couple of days I think for the better coloured ones And a lot longer for the greenish looking ones.. | |

| Glad they ripened ok, I'd hate to see them thrown away. I've never found bags work any better than leaving them out, I just leave fruit in a warm spot to ripen.
Dan, you can buy brown paper bags at any grocery shop... find them near the plastic wraps and bags. I always have a supply of paper bags as most school tuckshops these days work on a paper bag system - write order on outside, put money inside and hand in in the morning, lunch is put in bag and returned to child at lunchtime.

| Glad to see they are ripening MA they are bigger than the last lot you posted , I would leave them in a warm place too.I have used an apple in the bag with green bananas , that works but you have to buy the apple . Faye bought an [1] apple last week and said it was expensive and we shared the one she bought. She did'nt tell me the cost. | |

| Thanks Daniel.. I used to keep the mushrooms bags they were brown but Tony doesn't seem to want them anymore not enough steak in the freezer I guess but I fixed that last week I bought a whole Rump.. Me too Gail as I am not paying $4.99 kg for them.. I used to keep a packet of those brown lunch bags in the draw but have no need for them anymore.. | |

| Gwen they are the same size its just that I took them off the table as its was too dark and I put them on the shelf on the landing where Tony used to put meat out for the Butcherbirds so I probably had a different lens on the camera and took them closer up.. Though they do look a lot plumper.. Apples I have plenty of Gwen I only eat Pink Lady or Fuji sometimes Pink Lady go on special here in Coles for $2.99 Kg then I buy 21 as apples don't age in the fridge like some fruit most weeks they are $5.99.. Tony eats Royal Gala same price as mine but if they are not available he eats Red Delicious they are always $2.99 Kg.. It terrible when a humble apple costs so much but we found the same thing up in Townsville goodness they must come up on gold plated trucks That's a cute peeled banana you have there.. | |
