I was amazed to find a huge Camphor Laurel Tree at Roma Street Parkland
Maybe it was planted there when it was the Roma Street goods yard for the Railway
And perhaps the Greenies would not let it be removed, does anyone know.
I thought they were a weed in all parts of Queensland Perhaps they are after the narcotics in them
Camphor laurel is the most toxic weed species in Australia today so I wonder why is it there

I loved the setting it was in with the hundreds of Cyclamen around its base.

The cyclamens are beautiful. I have no idea why the council has kept the camphor laurel. I wish it wasn't such a weed as they can be a magnificent looking tree but it should come out.

MA Thank you for the great pics at Roma St . I used to have a few Cyclamen in VIC. years ago , That display is stunning , did any fall out of the ground that you had to rescue , i think they grow from a leaf if I remember rightly.
The Camphor Laurel is a fine specimen , but I too am surprised its still there. What an asset Roma St Parklands are to Brisbane. thumb2 flower

I wish Roma St Parklands were there when my father worked in Roma St mail exchange across the road (and up a bit). Would have been much nicer than the falling down old buildings and ugly rail yard that were there originally.

Strange that you should say that Gwen laughing wit tears laughing wit tears laughing wit tears laughing wit tears I did not look behind that border and yes I think they could be Liriope I will ask next time I go as there is a room there with a couple of volunteers that seem to know a lot more than the young male gardeners.

I had thought there may have been a few possums around it looks like a good possums tree.. I was thinking I don't know if the cyclamens would look as good under my gum trees not much room there now all have been taken over.

I have seen some old pics Gail and it was a eyesore years ago, those high-rise flats would get a fantastic view now though..
