| Good to know that you have had success Gail.. I had another look this morning nothing there I may dig them all up and transplant to a warmer part of the garden They dont seem to like the shade they are planted in its the two bee hives and the torch lily.. The torch lily is so tall easy 210 maybe 240 cms not a torch in sight either.. I moved a piece of one last year so it would face the west and get the late afternoon sun Its still not flowering.. | |

| I wasn't expecting flowers especially at this time of year when it is getting cooler at nights. I was surprised when I saw them. The plant doesn't get any special treatment and planted between a bamboo (oldhamii), a golden cane palm and a couple of dietes down near the bridge. | |

| I wonder if its because I did not cut the stems off last year in the Winter. I am really at a loss with these three Gail they dont get any special treatment either funny thing is the costus planted right next to them last October is flowering like crazy.. Perhaps mine are too close to other plants now as they have multiplied so much the clumps are bigger and I never feed them either, its certainly a mystery.. | |

| Looking good Gail at least they flower for you..
I was looking at mine yesterday, the torch lily has 240cm tall leaf stems on it still no flowers though I may cut all of them off.
Are your plants in the Sun.. Mine are in the shade.. | |

| Mine would get at least 3/4 shade. They are between the bamboo oldhamii and a large golden cane palm with a couple of dietes next to it. I think it was the rain we had that brought them on as before that they weren't doing anything but sent these up straight after. | |

| You are not alone, MA. I have some, have had them for years...no flowers. Probably too cool here... | |

| Mine would be in about that much shade too Gail though a few weeks back I moved a piece of the taller beehive out into the sun where it is facing west so I will see how that goes and if they dont flower this Summer I will dig them up and bin them its just a waste of water.. Yes its a big disappointment Fay those three plants I bought two years ago are a real let down, I have seen them flowering in Roma Street Parklands in the city but they would be up high where we are down in a valley and probably a little too cool for them here.. | |

| I don't think temperature had anything to do with mine flowering as it had started cooling off when it first came out - days around 25C and nights around 15C. | |

| Well I have tried, watering normal, little watering, no watering, no other option left Mind you lots of the plants in this garden dont kick on till they have been in the ground three years. I was thinking of feeding them something but dont want to produce more leaves. I will just let them be and see what happens, perhaps I should cut all those long stems off now. Or do you think I should leave them to fall of by themselves again as it gets colder.. Almost ready to put this one into the too hard basket.. | |
