This is Carphelea kirendron as seen in pic .1.

It grew much taller than this , was over 6ft when it finished flowering . This[below ] is the pruning necessary every year to end up with a nicely shaped bush.

The two branches at the top we could'nt cut with the cutters we have, so left those two and John cut them when he next came to do his gardening.
That was 3 weeks ago and now it comming into leaf again.

I purchased one about three months ago. Paid a lot of money ($15)for a not so healthy plant.
It has lost all it's leaves but there are some nice green shoots forming along the branches.

I can't wait for it to flower as it is a very pretty shrub.

Up here Marlene it does not loose its leaves but if its not pruned hard it goes too stragly .
Several people have tried to strike it from cutting from my bush , hard wood cuttings , green wood cuttings and tip cuttinmgs , not one strike.I think marcotting would be worth trying.
Some articles I've read say its easy peasy to strike.
Look forward to pics from your bush later on .

It's a lovely bush. I supposedly bought one several years ago but I have big doubts that it is one... actually nearly 100% sure it's not. I must try and id it one day. Whatever it is, it doesn't do well here and very slow. I am definitely going to get a genuine one when I see one next time I'm at a nursery.
