PostSubject: Wet Hibiscus Flowers   Wet Hibiscus Flowers Icon_minitimeSun Jun 21, 2009 4:37 pm

I am amazed at how many of the Hibiscus are still flowering
After all its Winter so they should have gone to sleep by now.
So many showers of rain today so they are looking waterlogged.
They are not at their best but its good they are still flowering so long.

Ritzy still has a few flowers on it:

Fantasia has lots of flowers:

So does Swan Lake:

Landersii has heaps of buds opening as well:

Cuban Variety another one full of flowers and buds:

The big flowered grafted ones are still blooming but some thing has been eating both of them and they are not a pretty sight Sad

So bright and cheery.

Ours are all still in flower and have plenty of buds, I've even had one new one flower which up to now has never flowered. I took a photo the other day but it is still on the camera as I haven't had time to put it on the computer... I'll get round to it later this morning.

Marlene the buttons up the top are all there for me..

I prune my Hibiscus in late August Marlene those pink and white singles are tall bushy plants well over 2.5 mts tall, I prune them down to around 1.2mts I know they say only take 1/3 off but I have to cut more off of those ones, then I have to prune them again in the Summer I take them back to the top of the boundary fence anything from 60-90 cms and with all the rain we have had this year I should have pruned again but its a privacy thing..

That dark pink Landersii it has been pruned back three times as it blocks out the view from the house, I did it about four weeks ago. Normally I only prune the big ones twice a year late winter or very early Spring then again around February, the smaller and newer grafted ones only get pruned once a year but with all the rain this year I have given them a little hair cut when needed but actually not a full prune..
