| Righto this time The day went well, entered 10 classes, came placed in 9. First is the ribbon for the grand champion that i was hopping to retain,i came third In the other classes, i took first in the Frankenstein section with (Jake the peg) In the miscellaneous vegetable section i got a highly recommended for my leeks Now for the Long Beetroot section, this one has pissed me off for yet another year with the smallest wins, why i dont know ?,i would think that when it comes to gardening, quality and quantity is the fundamental of all gardening and that it should be reflected in what are the requirements as a grower in presenting in such competition as these. In the rest of the sections i came third in the rhubarb section, second in the purple potato section, first in the white onion section, second in red onion, second in the marrow section and first in the three potato variety section, the only one i missed out on was the pumpkin Couldn't leave the show without getting a couple of flower pics I was taken with this rose This i throught was a dagg, you dont see this at any townie shows do ya | |

| good onya for winning the frankenveg, richard! too bad about the beets. next year...here's what you do. you scrub and oil them, see...just like the winner did. then you're sure to win! are those your monsters behind them? it's a kinda funny picture, actually. they look all deflated and depressed. i'm sure they were. it's very hard to deal with rejection sometimes. anyway....we're all very proud of you. and i have some great beet recipes for you to console yourself with. | |

| tessa,I did most of the veges with oil but didn't do the three beet section ones, dont know why but i just did get around to doing it,next year i will I'm on the sub committee that runs the produce section so i think i'm gonna bring this beetroot matter,i think there needs to be two sections, one for table beetroots and another one for preserving beets because you do need to encourage gardening for maximum yields also otamot, at the end of the day it all good fun with lots of friendly rivalry, the first prize went to a man called Bob (not my ram) who lost his wife about 6 months ago,so i felt good seeing it go to him,it really made his day M A i have no idea what it was but it was a stunning rose Cheryl your right in that without the entries there's no show and there was a lot of entries especially in the baking section, good to see people still do bake seems to be a dieing thing in cities nowadays. Gwen yes i did have quite a few liquid refreshments after but not the bubbly type, they dont make a sparkling whisky, ohooo stop that my poor head | |

| I like these smaller country shows... so much more fun and interesting than the city shows... more variety too though never seen a stock truck maze ... hope they cleaned it out first and sprayed some air freshener around You should be pleased with yourself... you did well and deserve a gold medal for overall Us Aussies will have to have a chat with those judges though... | |
