| The poincianas still have a few flowers on them and plenty of new growth But some of the leaves are starting to yellow off... you can see some yellow ones beside my little follower Tibouchina alstonville is still flowering well though the flowers are fading a bit This would just about be the last lot of flowers on the Leopard Tree Still plenty of flowers on the melastoma affine though More in part 2 | |

| Thanks.
That tree is only a baby yet! It's hard to see in the pics but there is a pot plant on each seat... the plants are only small yet but are twining types so hopefully will grow over the seats. | |

| I'm surprised too Gwen. The poincianas have never flowered for this long before. Not many flowers but all three trees have a few... plenty of seed pods too. | |

| Richard, the bird is a butcherbird. This is one of our resident kookaburras. It is nice and green at the moment... the 58mm that Cyclone Hamish gave us helped that | |

| Thanks Ota. The pot plants on the seats is because we don't like that garden setting so I am going to use it as a pot plant stand We are more into the informal style of garden settings rather than the formal style of this one. We have 3 poincianas and have a deck under one where we sit regularly | |

| When we moved here there was hardly any shade at all in the garden... hardly any garden for that matter... so it was very hot in summer both in and outside the house. It is amazing how much cooler it is now. We have a couple of other little seats around and want to put more in so we have a choice of views. | |

| We've been trying to find stumps and nice planks to use as rustic looking seats... fit in much better with our garden. We will also plonk down on a couple of big rocks for a quick breather when working. | |

| you've done well gail, I have my pergola now to sit under but it's just not the same as the shade from a tree but much better than sitting out in the sun | |

| Gail, love your garden. So colorful and lush. It is so dry down where I am that I can't even get shade trees started. Our local nurseryman told me this morning though that we'd get a wet winter now that Lake Eyre is full. Fingers crossed that he's right. | |

| Thanks Betty. We are just coming out of our wet season and coming into the dry so won't be long and everything will be brown again. The wet season hasn't been all that wet this year either, a bit below average but at least it's something and better than a couple of years ago when we hardly had any. Yours will come soon... it goes in cycles and the fires should help (smoke particles in the atmosphere are supposed to attract moisture particles... that's the theory anyway) | |

| Believing it will be a wet year is like believing in the tooth fairy or santa claus I think. I just planted a heap of flower seeds on the off chance, and bought some seedlings this morning, but not wasting money on trees of any sort. Don't mind me, I'm just depressed because we are having a couple more hot days. | |
