| I took these pictures a few days ago and just got round to uploading them to the computer. Hopefully I will get out into the garden this morning and take some more pics to put on here too. I recently split up and moved the kalanchoe to the edge of the new driveway. It will be a while before it looks much good but it will get there eventually. I must remember to put some mulch on it... it is one of those areas that I forget about until I drive past it I must also check out the rest of the garden too as I had another different red one last year - brighter orange/red. I thought I had found them all to move here Spring must be coming as the Alocasia cucullata is flowering. This one is just opening, they don't last long, only a couple of days but quite a few yet to open. This centradenia was a little late to start flowering, it is only just starting now, usually flowers most of winter. The others we have round the garden have all been flowering for a while but they aren't as big yet. Not the best of pics as the sun was in the wrong place. Just edited to replace the 1st pic with this one, not a lot better but a little less sun. | |

| Very good Gail and pretty.. Those Kalanchoe will look fantastic there at the bottom on that fence
Gwen I will pop some of the red and yellow Kalanchoe in that bag. Would you believe they do like a bit of water but don't like to be water logged so maybe in pots for you or a raised garden bed..They survive here in the wet and humid conditions actually its the best they have ever been with all that rain water we have had.. | |

| Thanks. Even though we can get humid days in summer they are nowhere near as humid as yours Gwen so the kalanchoes need good drainage as Mary-Anne said and also benefit from good air flow... and full sun. Val, this is Alocasia cucullata. It would be one of the toughest alocasias, doesn't mind our cold winters and less water than the others. When I first got it I did some research and found its common name is Buddha's Hand and in Thailand, it is often planted at the front door so when the wind blows, the leaves are like Buddha's hand and wave good luck and fortune into the home. This photo was taken in January, it is even bigger now. That cream dietes is supposed to be more a lemon colour, it's proper name is Dietes bicolour. | |

| Thanks Fay. That crucifix should be more a pinky-purple colour. I think it just shows more pink in the photo. | |
